Post Race Fiesta

After you cross the finish line, head over to the beer garden where your first beer, chips, salsa, churros and sweet dipping sauces are on us! Continue your Cinco de Mayo celebration and dance the day away to live mariachi bands.

Beer Tickets and Wristbands

Who’s ready for a beer? All participants need a wristband to consume alcohol. Identification will be checked and verified wristbands distributed at Packet Pick Up.

Choose from the following beer ticket options:
• 5 tickets for $20 @ Packet Pick Up
• $5 per ticket on Race Day. Cash only.

Charity

Cinco de Miler Chicago is proud to support the 100 Club of Chicago.

The 100 Club of Chicago is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) charitable organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois. It was founded in 1966.

The purpose of the organization is to provide for the surviving spouses and dependents of law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics who lose their lives in the line of duty. This includes all federal, state, county and local officers, firefighters and paramedics stationed in Cook County.

Since its inception, the 100 Club of Chicago has served 247 families with more than $9 million, of which more than $4 million was devoted to educational assistance for the dependents.

Within 24 hours following the loss of life in the line of duty, the 100 Club of Chicago presents an initial check for $15,000 to cover the family’s immediate financial needs. Several weeks later, a second meeting is held with the family and the Club will present an additional check to cover a portion of the family’s debts.

The Educational Assistance Program of the 100 Club of Chicago provides financial assistance for dependents for their undergraduate, vocational education and graduate studies. Currently, there are 19 dependents receiving assistance from the program and there are an additional 35 children who will be eligible for assistance as they reach college age.

General Info

+ What time is the race?

Montrose Harbor – Chicago, IL – May 3, 2015
Start Time: 9:30 A.M.
Arrival Times: 8:00 A.M.

+ Where should I park?

We highly encourage carpooling, using public transportation or biking to the event. There will be over 8,000 participants, volunteers, and spectators on site race morning; please plan for heavy traffic and allow ample time to check your gear and get into your corral.

Limited pay-to-park lots are available in the following parking lots:
- Wilson Ave Parking Lot – Parking lot is located off of Wilson Ave just east of Lake Shore Drive.

*Please arrive early as the pay stations at the parking locations take a while to process your payment

Montrose Drive Parking Lot WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE due to the lot still being occupied by boats. We highly recommend making alternate transportation plans.

Limited parking is available in surrounding areas west of Lake Shore Drive but participants are encouraged to use public transportation. For travel information or to plan your trip, visit CTA’s Trip Planner at transitchicago.com.

+ Can I get a refund or transfer my entry?

All participant entries are non-transferable and non-refundable according to USATF regulations.

+ Will you email me more information closer to the event?

Yes, keep an eye out for emails from info@ramracing.org.

+ I want to be in the same corral as my friend. What can we do?

Go ahead and move back in corrals—but please don’t move up.

+ Can I walk the Cinco de Miler?

Cinco de Miler welcomes walkers that can keep up with the 15 minute per mile pace. That’s about four miles per hour, or a very brisk walk.

+ Is there an age minimum or maximum?

Cinco de Miler welcomes all ages to the race.

+ Are there toilets on-site?

Yes—there are port-o-johns at the start/finish area and at the aid stations.

+ Are baby carriers permitted?

Not on course, but they’re welcome in spectating sections!

+ Are dogs allowed?

Sorry, no dogs are allowed on the course.

+ Can I bring my bike?

Feel free to ride to the event, but you’ll have to park it before you get to the course.

No packets or goodie bags will be distributed past the close of packet pickup on May 2nd. NO EXCEPTIONS! Friends and/or family members may collect your packet for you. Just send them with a copy of your confirmation email.

+ I can’t make it to the race. Can I still receive my packet?

Yes. Please have yourself, a friend, or a family member stop by Packet Pick Up to collect your bib and goodie bag.

+ Can I change my goodie bag size?

You can switch sizes until a month before the event on your RAM Racing account.

+ Is there packet mailing?

RAM Racing now offers the option to have your packet mailed for the 2015 Cinco de Miler. If you have already registered for the event, and would like to register for packet by mail, follow the instructions below:
a. Log into your RAM Racing account
b. Open the “Your Races” tab in the upper right corner of the screen c. Click on the View tab next to the correct race d. Select the “Packet Mailing” option and follow the prompts through the payment process to pay the $15.27 for shipping

If you have not already registered for the race, you will have the option to add packet mailing during the registration process.
The deadline for packet mailing for the 2015 Cinco de Miler is March 31, 2015. Please, no P.O. Box addresses.

Course

+ What is the Cinco de Miler course?

+ I need more information about the course

• USATF sanctioned

• Minimum pace: 15 minute mile

• Aid stations: Aid Stations are located at approximately 1.75 miles and 3.5 miles.
Each station includes Gatorade, water, port a johns, and medical support.

• Mile markers: Each mile will be marked.

• Start line staging begins at 8:30 AM

• Medical Info: ALS units will be positioned at each aid station. In addition should any runners be in need of medical attention, course marshals and aid stations captains will be in communication with the medical teams at all times. Medical facilities will also be available at the finish line.

+ How long do I have to finish the race?

Please note that a 15 minute mile pace or faster is required. A 15 min. mile pace is roughly four miles per hour, equivalent to a very brisk walk. If you fall below this pace, the race organizers can no longer guarantee course support. Aid Stations, medical support, portable toilets, and road closures will begin to become unavailable to participants. The local police and race organizers will ask you to either move up onto the sidewalk or require you to be transported further up on course to catch up to the 15 min. per mile group.

Post Race Party

+ What is the Post Race Fiesta?

After crossing the finish line enjoy your chips & salsa, churro and ice cold beer. Sit back and enjoy the live music or dance away your afternoon.

Gear Check

+ I need more information about Gear check

Gear check is available to all registered participants.

• 8AM-11:30AM on race day
• Gear check bags must be 12” X 18” or smaller
• Bags may be left at gear check tent only

RAM Racing is not responsible for lost or damaged items. Please have the gear check tab from your bib adhered to your bag prior to entering the gear check lines.

Timing and awards

+ How am I timed?

All participants receive a B-Tag timing chip, attached to their race bib when they pick up their race materials at packet pickup. Please don’t remove the B-Tag from your bib, as no bibs or B-Tags will be distributed on race day.

All race bibs will be marked with their designated start corral. Corral staging will begin at 9AM. Please be sure to check your bag at gear check before proceeding to the start line area.

+ How can I make sure my timing is accurate?

• Clearly visible on the front of the torso
• Unaltered and unmodified with no folds or wrinkles
• Pinned in all four corners
• Not covered by jackets, runner belts, water bottles, etc.

+ What are live athlete updates?

You can receive updates on athletes as they cross points on the course and have them sent to Facebook, Twitter and mobile phone.

How does it work?
• Head to our tracking page.
• Search for athletes for whom you would like to receive updates.
• Select how you would like to receive these updates.

*If you have just registered it may take 12-24 hrs after registration to be able to register for live tracking

+ Where will the results be posted?

A. Results for each participant will include a 5K split and finish time. Official results will be posted online within 24 hours of the event.

+ How can I win an award?

The top three male and female overall finishers will receive a festive Cinco de Miler sombrero! The awards ceremony will take place in the Post Race Fiesta at approximately 10:30AM. Age group awards will be sent via mail after the event. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery.
